| Gancarczyk must have received a pleasant surprise when he was nominated in the Poland squad for the FIFA World Cup™. The 24-year-old has only made two international appearances, his debut coming in early May 2006, where he impressed Poland coach Pawel Janas despite the 1-0 defeat to Lithuania’s B team. Gancarczyk has played in Ukraine since 2003 and remains something of an unknown quantity even in Poland. He has played with Metalist Charkow – who finished fifth in the Ukrainian championship this season – since the start of 2006, following two spells with Arsenal Kiev and a brief interlude at Volyn Lutsk.
